Mexico congratulates Prensa Latina on 63rd anniversary

Mexico City, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) Mexico's Foreign Secretariat on Thursday congratulated Prensa Latina News Agency on its 63rd anniversary.

In a congratulation note, the Mexican secretariat recalled that Prensa Latina was founded on June 16, 1959, by Fidel Castro and Ernesto Guevara, and included journalists Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Rodolfo Walsh, Rogelio Garcia Lupo and Carlos Maria Gutierrez in its initial team.

The note heaped praise on Prensa Latina´s work and efforts as a nonprofit organization, which has one of the largest photo archives of Latin America and the Caribbean, the result of a thorough work of coverages, selection, classification and preservation for over 60 years.
