Matanzas has the medical supplies necessary for contingencies

Matanzas, Cuba, Aug 8 (Prensa Latina) The provincial director of Health, Luis Wong, said on Monday that Matanzas has the necessary logistic materials to deal with any emergecy that may arise from the fire in fuel deposits.
In an interview with Prensa Latina, the official said that there is blood available to assume contingencies and if more plasma is needed, the population will be immediately informed.
He added that the province has 65 beds that have not been used, 12 of which are for the care of seriously ill patients and 157 others in neighboring provinces.
He also informed that the support from medical brigades from nearby territories is guaranteed.
Wong thanked the immediate response from the team of doctors, patients and technicians and the work of specialists and medical students willing to take on life-saving tasks.
He added that psychologists and psychiatrists are supporting the families of the missing and another team of these specialists together with the 800 evacuees, for the mental health of children and elderly people.
According to the Public Health Ministry, so far, one person died, 125 were injured, 24 of whom were hospitalized, and 16 are missing.
