Cuban writer Julio Travieso will receive the 2021 National Literature Award on Saturday, during the awarding ceremony at the 30th Havana International Book Fair.

The ceremony, to be held at the Nicolas Guillen Hall of the San Carlos de La Cabaña Fortress, is part of the celebrations on the Cuban Book Day, which pays tribute to all writers, workers and members of the publishing and literary system in the country.

The national jury granted the highest literary award in Cuba to Travieso’s work for the extraordinary merits of his narrative, the rigor of his prose, where language, imagination and a solid structure converge, evident in his most renowned books, such as “Cuando la noche muera” (When the night dies) and “Llueve sobre La Habana” (It rains in Havana).
