Italy reported almost one million active Covid-19 cases

Rome, Jul 1 (Prensa Latina) Italy today reported 86,334 new Covid-19 patients in 24 hours, bringing to 929,6 the number of currently active cases and bringing to 18. 610,011 the number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic.

Seven thousand 94 patients remain in hospitals, 264 of them in intensive care wards, while 921 912 are isolated in their homes under medical supervision, according to the latest report issued by the National Health Institute (ISS).

In the last day, 72 deaths were recorded, 13 more than the previous day, and the death toll of this disease in this European nation has reached 168,425 since the first cases were detected a little more than 30 months ago.

According to data released by the Italian Health Ministry, from June 24 to 30 the weekly incidence at national level was 763 infected persons per 100,000 inhabitants, higher than the 504 calculated for the previous period.

The president of the Federation of Italian Hospitals, Giovanni Migliore, pointed out this Friday that in view of this situation, the reopening of the Covid wards in health facilities is being evaluated, in order to respond to the increase in cases.
