Havana Film Festival pays tribute to Cuban filmmaker Sara Gómez

The 42nd Latin American Film Festival pays tribute on Sunday to the Cuban film director Sara Gómez, displaying a review on her life work at La Rampa cinema.

The Festival will display recently restored copies of the feature film ¨De cierta manera¨ Way (1974) and documentaries ¨Guanabacoa: Crónica de mi familia¨ (1966), ¨Iré a Santiago¨ (1964) and ¨Una isla para Miguel¨ (1968), classic productions in Cuban and Latin America.

The showing, first part of the Sara Gómez tribute to a poetics of the margins, will start at 4:00 p.m., local time, and will conclude with the showing of the 79-minute feature film: ¨De cierta manera¨, featuring a first-class cast made up of Cuban actors and actresses including Mario Balmaseda, Mario Limonta and Yolanda Cuéllar.

Sara Gómez passed away before finishing the feature film, the first and only, which hit the big screen thanks to Tomás Gutiérrez Alea and Julio García Espinosa.
