Havana, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) As part of the 23rd French Film Festival in Cuba, movie theaters of this captial will screen the film “So close, so far” directed by Cédric Klapisch.

The story of two young people, victims of loneliness in a time when being hyperconnected does not mean communicating, will be screened at the Yara movie theater in the afternoon, the French Alliance of Cuba reported on Facebook.

Co-produced by France and Belgium, the cast of the movie features Francois Civil and Ana Girardot, and was written by the director himself and Argentinian screenwriter Santiago Amigorena.

Screened at international festivals, the film has four nominations to the César Awards and has been nominated to the Lumiere and Crystal Globe Awards.

Other films that will be screened on Thursday are Aline, Adieu les cons”(Bye bye morons) and the retrospective of Greek film-maker Costa-Gavras, with the film The Rails of Crime.

Moreover, Hall 1 of Multicine Infanta will screen The Bears’ Famous Invasion in Sicily; the Charles Chaplin movie theater will screen The Shiny Shrimps; and the Riviera will screen De Gaulle.

This selection is an example of French cinema because these movies showcase France’s rich culture and its close ties with Cuba, French Ambassador to Cuba, Patrice Paoli, said at a press conference.

The French Film Festival will be held in Cuba until June 30, organized by several institutions from both nations, its founders Christophe Barratier and Nouredine Essadi and supported by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry.
