Havana, May 24 (Prensa Latina) The Cuba 2.0 Food Fair on Tuesday begins its first day of activities and brings together economic stockholders of the island and foreign entrepreneurs of the sector to boost domestic production.

The international event takes place at the Pabexpo fairgrounds until May 26 and among its new features, it includes the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, non-agricultural cooperatives and self-employed workers.

The event is also attended by some 70 companies from 15 countries and, as a complement, a theoretical symposium will be held, with more than 16 master lectures by national and foreign specialists on technologies, nutrition, raw materials, production chains and management models.

According to Food Industry Minister Manuel Sobrino, Alimentos Cuba 2.0 is another of the actions taken by the Government to seriously, safely and decisively promote the food sovereignty and nutritional security program, whose law was approved by the National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament).

In addition, it promotes greater participation of the territories, which responds to the policy of self-sufficiency, he stressed.

Deputy Food Industry Minister Javier Aguiar told Prensa Latina that one of the objectives of Alimentos Cuba 2.0 is to show the potentialities of the state, private and cooperative actors in the food production on the island, as well as identify the possibilities of linking and complementing each other.
