Havana, Jun 17 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez highlighted the recognition in the United States of vaccines against Covid-19 disease developed on the island and the aspirations of cooperation in the sector.

From his official Twitter account, the Foreign Minister highlighted the 26 U.S. congressmen who demanded President Joe Biden to eliminate restrictions affecting the production and distribution of Cuban vaccines to control the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Likewise, the signatories of the letter asked the president to review the policy towards Havana and to exclude the Caribbean nation from the list of alleged State sponsors of terrorism.

The Democratic legislators’ letter emphasizes the need to eliminate measures so as not to hinder “Cuba’s current or future efforts to share anti-Covid-19 vaccines and related technology and medical support to low-income countries around the world”.

They felt that the United States could benefit from this, as vaccines produced at reduced cost would help the Biden administration’s goal of distributing cheap and effective vaccines globally.

However, the signatories remarked that Washington’s provisions against Havana directly impede these objectives.
