Havana, July 29 (RHC)-- Cuba will participate with full teams of the three weapons in the Central American and Caribbean Fencing Championship of San Salvador 2022, scheduled from August 1 to 8 and qualifier for the regional multisport event next year, precisely in that city.

"We intend to qualify all the teams in one and the other gender, which would give us two individual quotas in each case," Alhjadis Bandera, president of the Cuban federation of that sport, told JIT.

The also national commissioner confirmed that they will travel next Sunday to the capital of the Central American nation. "We are taking a delegation of 18 athletes and six coaches in order to get the tickets in competition," he reiterated.

Seven teams will get the ticket in the imminent Salvadoran call, which will be added to that of the host country. Two shooters from each of those squads will represent them in the individual tournament.

The way in which the remaining places will be distributed to the athletes who do not qualify through the team competition is still pending.

The competition will take place at the Ciudadela Don Bosco Multi-Sports Gymnasium in Soyapango, San Salvador. The technical congress will be held on August 1.

The competition will have its competitive baptism on August 2 with duels in foil for women and sabre for men. On the following day, the epee and sabre fencers will cross swords, and on Thursday, the foil and epee specialists will compete.

On Friday, the team competition will begin with foil (f) and sabre (m). One day later, the epee (m) and saber (f) will compete, and on Sunday's closing ceremony, the foil (m) and epee (f) practitioners will brandish their weapons.
