Former Bolivian President Evo Morales on Saturday highlighted the life, work and thought of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, whom he described as an example of dignity for the world.

After touring the Fidel Castro Ruz Center in Havana, Morales expressed satisfaction with being back in Cuba, a nation for which he feels deep affection, respect and admiration.

He recalled the Cuban doctors’ contribution to his country as part of Operation Miracle, which allowed hundreds of thousands of his compatriots suffering from eye diseases to recover sight free of charge.

He also pointed out that Cuba and Fidel Castro are references of solidarity for the world, and sources of inspiration for the peoples in struggle for their sovereignty, independence and freedom.

The visit to the institution dedicated to the study of the Cuban revolutionary leader’s thinking is the first activity carried out by the former Bolivian president, who arrived in Cuba on Friday.

The book tells the vicissitudes that the then Bolivian president went through to leave the country alive after the 2019 coup d’état.

The operation was carried out with the help of several countries on early November 11, 2019,, and allowed Morales’ departure for Mexico, by air, and later for Argentina, where he remained until his return home after the election of Luis Arce as president of Bolivia.
