The second edition of the Month of Europe in Cuba begins today, and until May 9, building fraternal bridges between art, cultures, and traditions under the premise United in diversity.

The cinema will be the protagonist of this gathering, which includes a broad program with all cultural celebrations.

In addition to Havana, the program extends, for the first time, its scope to Cienfuegos, Holguín, and Santiago de Cuba provinces and Isla de la Juventud special municipality, according to reports.

European Union (EU) Ambassador to Cuba, Isabel Brilhante, announced that this multicultural and multinational edition includes artistic works conceived for different scenarios and highlights the links with Cuba, mixing classical and contemporary aspects.

Brilhante stated that, once again, the EU delegation in Havana and the embassies of the member states accredited to Cuba have joined forces to make this project a reality.

This second edition includes the European Film Festival, an international educational film festival for children and teenagers, and the “Isla Verde” (Green Island) International Film and Environment Festival of the Caribbean, promoted by Cuban actor and filmmaker Jorge Perugorría, who was recently awarded the National Film Prize.

The public is also invited to participate in most of the activities of this cultural event, including lectures, colloquiums, visual art exhibitions, concerts, workshops, literary meetings, documentaries and film screenings, guided tours, contemporary dance classes, fashion shows, a sports tournament, and two competitions.
