Cairo, Aug 12 (Prensa Latina) Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and China's chief climate negotiator Xie Zhenhua discussed major topics to be tackled in the upcoming summit on global warming, an official source reported on Friday.

During a video call, the two officials lauded the level of cooperation and consultation between Egypt and China on climate-related issues at bilateral and multilateral levels, Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said in a communique.

The talk provided a follow-up to the issues addressed by Cairo and Beijing on climate change during the Davos World Economic Forum, held in May, he said.

In recent months, this country’s authorities have held several meetings with governments and international figures as part of the preparations for the United Nations Climate Conference (COP27), to be held in the resort of Sharm El-Sheikh in November.

The organizers of the event expect the attendance of up to 30,000 people, included government officials, businessmen, climate organizations, international institutions and activists.

Egypt launched a National Strategy for Climate Change 2050 in May to tackle the repercussions of that scourge.
