Echoes of the 14th Havana Biennial resound in new exhibition

Havana, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) Although the agenda of the Havana Biennial closed last April, its echoes resound in the visual arts scene on Cuba, which today hosts the exhibition called Expansion14 (Expansión14).

The initiative, organized by the curators of the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, was set up in several rooms of the cultural institution with the purpose of revisiting works and discourses, as well as to keep up the pace set by the 14th edition of the event.

The pieces, which will be part of the Center’s collection, were donated by some of its participants like Reza Aramesh (Iran), Takeshi Ikeda (Japan), Marco Brambilla (Italy), Paz Encina (Paraguay), Joaquin Fargas (Argentina), Marlon Griffith (Trinidad and Tobago), Diango Hernandez and Michel Pou, from Cuba.

There are also featured works by Yonlay Cabrera (Cuba), MURU 7.8 (Argentina-Mexico), Benhard Lang (Germany), Renata Roman (Brazil), Rina Ralay (Madagascar), Sayuri Guzman (Dominican Republic), Nestor Jimenez and Yoshua Okon (Mexico).

As part of this initiative, the Jose Marti National Library is hosting the exhibition Resonances of Chinese Contemporary Art, which illustrates the transculturation process of Asian art, faithful to its past, motifs, icons, beliefs, philosophy of life and relationship with the environment, while tuning in with today’s dynamics.

The Havana Biennial, which took place in an unprecedented format in its 14th edition, was held from November 12, 2021 to April 30 this year, with the participation of more than 300 creators from all continents.
