DPRK describes US military aid to Taiwan as “dangerous”

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) warned on Friday that the increase in US military aid to Taiwan will bring military tensions in the Asia-Pacific "to another flashpoint of war."

 
In remarks reprinted by the state news agency KCNA, Foreign Ministry Director General for China Maeng Yong Rim said that such actions are a flagrant violation of the one-China principle, to which Washington is supposedly committed, and the spirit of the three US-China joint statements.

The US double standards are “a dangerous political and military provocation that completely destroys stability in the region and a reckless act against peace, the official stressed.

He added Washington’s intention is to turn Taiwan into a forward base against China and a frontline trench to carry out its strategy of deterrence against China and secure a hegemonic position in the region.

The DPRK will fully support any measures taken by the People’s Republic of China to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity and advance the cause of reunification, he remarked.
