Quito, Dec 3 (Prensa Latina) Ecuadorian doctors who graduated in Cuba celebrated the Latin American Medicine Day on Friday by thanking their trainers and the solidarity program developed by the Caribbean nation.

The messages came from different regions of Ecuador, where more than 2,800 young people were trained at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM), founded in 1999 at the initiative of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who is also remembered today by these professionals.

From Manabi, Frank Vince, described as “immeasurable work and beautiful mission” the work done by Cuba to help so many people from many countries to be trained as health specialists, marked by humanism and the pride of being members of the “Army in White Coats”, as Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro used to call them.

Andres Sotomayor recalled that this day honors prestigious Cuban physician and scientist Carlos Juan Finlay, for his legacy to health and humanity, and also highlighted the ELAM’s relevance as a training institution.

Pediatrician Domenica Villacis congratulated her colleagues and the Cuban medical brigade members, who promote internationalism, while otorhinolaryngologist Gina Chamorro said that the professionals trained in Cuba carry the principles assumed during their stay in that country.
