The president stressed on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter, that this was a tribute from the Cuban people to those who fought for the freedom and independence of that nation.
"In a solemn ceremony, we laid a wreath at the Monument of the Mozambican Heroes, in the city of Maputo, as a tribute from our people to those who fought for the freedom and independence of this sister nation."
He also noted that he held a warm exchange with Esperança Bias, president of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique.
We expressed our willingness to strengthen ties between the National Assembly of People's Power and the Parliament of that nation and I thanked her for accompanying the worldwide call for the lifting of the blockade, he wrote in X.
Díaz-Canel arrived this Friday in Mozambique from South Africa, where he participated as president pro tempore of the G-77 + China, in the Brics Summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).
According to the account of the Presidency of Cuba on the same digital platform, this is the third stop of the president in his tour of Africa, which began in Angola and then continued to South Africa, where he participated in the XV Summit of the BRICS.
