Havana, Feb 5 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel visited on Friday the New Latin American Cinema Foundation and ratified the government's commitment to a project that celebrates 35 years of creation.

On his Twitter account, the president described the visit to the institution as an 'old yearning.'

'We talked with our dear colleague Alquimia Peña and members of her work team. We ratified our commitment to the regional film integration project founded by Fidel and Gabo,' the head of State added.

Created by filmmakers from 15 countries in the region and the Chicano Minority, the Foundation also received encouragement from historic leader Fidel Castro and Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez alias Gabo.

In addition, Garcia Marquez served as president of this space closely linked to the New Latin American Cinema Movement.
