Havana, May 27 (Prensa Latina) The National Ballet of Cuba on Thursday expressed its deep condolences over the death of Italian artist Carla Fracci, one of the great dancers in the history of dance and a close friend of Alicia Alonso.

In a statement, the institution referred to the impressive career of the star of La Scala in Milan, who also offered her art on the most famous stages in the world.

Fracci performed in Cuba on several occasions at the Havana International Ballet Festivals, and for her Alonso (1920-2019), created especially her choreography 'Desnuda luz del amor,' which she premiered along with dancers from the Caribbean nation, the note said.

She starred in the premieres of Alonso's versions of 'Giselle,' at the San Carlo Theater in Naples, in 1981; and of 'The Sleeping Beauty of the Forest,' at La Scala in Milan, in 1983.

The artist, much loved by the Italian people, also enjoyed the admiration and respect of Cubans, and was awarded the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso Prize in 1998.

Fracci, considered a legend in the world of ballet, died today in her hometown of Milan aged 84.
