The 44th edition of Havana's International Festival of New Latin American Cinema starts this Friday until December 17, with 199 films in competition, including 39 from Cuba and 12 co-productions.
Cuba has audiovisual works in the eight categories of the competition and five in other sections.
A couple of Cuban works that participated at two major international film festivals this year are also in competition.
These are the documentary “Landrián” by filmmaker Ernesto Daranas, which participated in the 80th edition of the Venice International Film Festival in Italy, and “La mujer salvaje” by young director Alan González, which was screened at the 48th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.
