Cuba's Council of State examined the country's legislative agenda, headed by the president of that body, Esteban Lazo Hernández, the Parliament disclosed today on its website.

In its session the day before, the decree law modifying decree law no. 56 ‘On the Working Motherhood and Families’ Responsibility, dated October 13, 2021, was approved.

The new law is in accordance with the precepts included in the Family Code, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Marta Elena Feitó, assured.

In turn, the head of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Commission of the National Assembly of People’s Power, José Luis Toledo, gave an update on the Social Communication bill.

He pointed out that, thanks to the tour throughout the country for its discussion and analysis with deputies, experts and specialists, 199 interventions were made, 12 opinions were received through e-mail enabled to the population and nine criteria were directly attended by the drafting commission. As a result of such analysis, more than 57 modifications were made to the text and about 61% of its content was changed.

In this regard, it was agreed that the Council of Ministers, the body that exercised the legislative initiative at the time, would evaluate the proposed modifications for their presentation and discussion in the next Legislature of the National Assembly of People’s Power.

The members of this legislative body also approved the general rules for the development of integrated community work from the districts, rules that are in line with the political will to continue implementing socialist democracy and popular participation in the neighborhoods.
