Kingston, Nov 20 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's contribution to regional unity and the value of its international medical cooperation stands out in Jamaica, according to the words of former Prime Minister Percival James Patterson.

The prominent Jamaican politician and intellectual reiterated during a meeting with the Cuban Ambassador Ines Fors, his denunciation of the US economic, financial and commercial blockade against Cuba for almost six decades.

According to the Cuban diplomatic representation in Kingston, Patterson stressed the importance of Cuba in the search for unity within the Caribbean Community to face the common problems of the peoples.

Meanwhile, the former Jamaican PM recalled with satisfaction his friendship with the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro and expressed gratitude for Cuba's solidarity in supporting the response against Covid-19, especially in African nations and the Caribbean.

In the talks, which took place in a fraternal atmosphere, the Jamaican politician and the Cuban diplomat addressed other issues on the bilateral and international agenda.

Patterson, from the National People's Party, was Prime Minister of Jamaica from 1992 to 2005 and currently his voice accompanies the recognition of several organizations and personalities from the island that support Cuba's role in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
