Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel paid tribute on Tuesday to the victims of the terrorist attack against a Cubana de Aviación plane flying from Barbados to Cuba on October 6, 1976.

In the monument to those killed in organized crime by United States-based counterrevolutionaries, the head of State said that Cuba denounces that the same hatred of those who guaranteed impunity for the terrorists, moves those who unacceptably offend the victims continue to cause pain to Cuba.

Diaz-Canel was accompanied by Carlos Cremata, director of the children’s company La Colmenita, the son of one of those killed in the sabotage, and whose current work is inspired by love.

This site, this memorial, confirms that Cuba can only be on the list (if it existed) of the victims of terrorism, Diaz-Canel pointed out.

According to a tweet from the Presidency of the Republic of Cuba, at the tribute ceremony, Prime Minister of Barbados Mia Amor Mottley said that the monument was sacred ground and the memory of the victims inspires to preserve the Caribbean as peace zone.

The information added that after the ceremony, Díaz-Canel met with members of the medical brigade that is working in Barbados, Cuban residents and members of the diplomatic mission.

On Tuesday, the Cuban president headed the delegation that attended the 8th Caricom-Cuba Summit that commemorated the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Havana and four independent nations in the region: Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Barbados.
