Cuban president mourns passing of outstanding volleyball player

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Wednesday mourned the death of outstanding volleyball player Raiza O'Farril.

On Twitter, the Cuban leader extended his deepest condolences to O’Farril´s family, friends and teammates.

Díaz-Canel added to his message that of the President of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER) Osvaldo Vento who informed of O’Farril´s death on Tuesday.

O’Farril died of cancer at the age of 51, INDER said in a statement while detailing that after being member of the legendary Morenas del Caribe team for many years, O’Farril continued to train herself at the Manuel Fajardo University of Physical Culture and Sports Sciences, where she served as professor.
