Beijing, Nov 25 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday concluded a brief but intense visit to China that included official talks and the signing of agreements to boost bilateral cooperation.

The president left for Istanbul, Türkiye, where he will make a technical stopover and will meet with several Turkish businesspeople before leaving for Cuba.

Diaz-Canel arrived in Beijing on Thursday night and in less than 24 hours carried out a busy work agenda as the culmination of a tour that previously took him to Algeria, Russia, and Türkiye.

The president said that he noted the good state of relations between Cuba and China at every meeting with the top leaders of this Asian country.

At the official talks with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, both leaders highlighted the historic nature of the excellent ties between both peoples, parties, and governments, based on common ideals, purposes, and extensive political consensus at international forums.

The Cuban head of State added that at his meeting with the chairman of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Assembly of China, Li Zhanshu, he was pleased to note the friendship and cooperation ties and the depth of political dialogue between both legislative bodies.

As for the talks with Prime Minister Li Keqiang, he commented that he reaffirmed to the Chinese leader the significance for Cuba of the involvement of the Chinese business sector in the updating process of the Cuban economic and social model.

Diaz-Canel described the results of his visit to China as very satisfactory and above expectations as they bring into view the support for Cuba at difficult times. The Chinese party showed receptivity and acknowledged the resilience of the Cuban people in the face of hardships.

In fact, after meeting with Xi Jinping, both countries signed 12 cooperation agreements in different sectors to strengthen bilateral ties, which were established 62 years ago and were described by both sides as solid.

This meeting also concluded with a joint statement that reflected the will of the parties to expand communication and political, economic and multisectorial cooperation relations.
