Cuban parliament publishes the accountability report of the Council of State

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 25 (ACN) The National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (Parliament) published today on its website the accountability report of the Council of State.

According to the government agency, the document is being released with the aim of enriching this process with the criteria of the citizenry, as a preview of its analysis in the 10th Ordinary Period of Sessions of the Cuban Parliament, scheduled for December 12.

The Council of State maintains the character of representative body of the National Assembly and must render an account of all its activities and submit for its ratification the decrees, laws and agreements adopted, the text reads.

New attributions were incorporated, among others, those of ensuring respect for the Constitution and the laws, analyzing the draft laws to be submitted to the National Assembly, demanding compliance with the agreements of the National Assembly and exercising control and supervision of the bodies of the State, it specifies.

It adds that the Council of State is granted powers established in other laws, such as that of approving foreign investment modalities and making readjustments to the State budget.
