Tokyo, May 12 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Leonys Martin was named most valuable player of April in the Pacific League, belonging to Japanese baseball.
 
Martin, who plays for the Lotte Mariners, was the leader in home runs, with 10, slugging (576) and batting average with men in scoring position (458).

The player became the first Latino to receive the award since Venezuelan Jose Celestino Lopez won it in July 2019 and the first Cuban since Dayan Viciedo won it in August 2018.

In the League, Rakuten Eagles pitcher Hideki Wakui was the most outstanding, compiling four wins without losses in the period, in addition to 33 strikeouts and an effectiveness of 1.51 clean sheets per nine innings.
