Havana, December 10 (RHC)-- Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez held a dialogue on Saturday with a U.S. congressional delegation on the severe impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of Washington against the archipelago.

From his Twitter profile, the foreign minister described as open and respectful the meeting held with this group of representatives visiting the Cuban capital, led by Democratic Congressman James McGovern for the state of Massachusetts.

According to Rodriguez, in the meeting both parties noted the interest in advancing towards a constructive relationship between the two countries.

These legislators spoke the day before, at the National Capitol (parliamentary headquarters), with the president of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee, José Luis Toledo, and the Health and Sports Committee, Estela Luna, as well as with the president of the People's Supreme Court, Rubén Remigio, among other members of the Council of State.

On the US side, Mark Pocan and Troy A. Carter, among other guests, attended the meeting.

Last November, another group of U.S. legislators visited the headquarters of the National Assembly, on that occasion with food production as the main topic.

Congressmen Salud Carbajal, James Baird and Jahana Hayes were received by members of the Agrifood Commission of the Cuban Parliament and by Vice President Salvador Valdés.
