Cuban film exhibition inaugurated in Nicaragua (+ Photos)
Managua, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) With the projection of the film El Mayor by director Rigoberto López, a Cuban film exhibition was inaugurated here.
This projection pays tribute to Major General Antonio Maceo and Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, on the 177th and 94th anniversaries of their respective birthdays.
Cuban ambassador to this nation, Jorge Mayo, highlighted this film´s characteristics, which constitutes, he said, a model of endless loyalty to the homeland, to the exemplary and deep love felt by Amalia Simoni (1842-1918) and Ignacio Agramonte (1841-1873) until his death in combat at only 32 years of age.
.The diplomat highlighted the political will of the government headed by President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo to deepen and share the knowledge of the historical roots, the experiences of each of the peoples in the struggles for independence.
For her part, the co-director of the National Cinematheque, Idania Castillo, thanked the Cuban embassy for the film exhibition, adding that it strengthens the bonds of friendship between the two nations.
