On the digital breach in the educational sector during and after the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the members of the Commission of Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Communication of the Latin American Parliament debated and Caribeño ( Parlatino ), in an ordinary meeting, led by its first vice president, Cuban deputy Miguel Enrique Charbonet Martell.

During the virtual meeting, the legislators of the region referred to the use of television and radio as a means to guarantee the continuity of teaching activities in the conditions of health crisis that the world is facing, according to the Cuban Parliament website.

Speaking, Charbonet Martell recalled that, compared to other areas of the world, in Latin American and Caribbean countries there is still a lag in terms of broadband internet connection, which increases the digital breach in the educational field.

At the meeting, which was attended by an expert from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the parliamentarians approved the integration of a working group to prepare an inclusive and diverse law that contributes to reducing the differences, since some areas do not have access to the internet or technological means for the teaching process.
