Havana, Jan 14 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban flamenco company Ecos will stage the emblematic play The House of Bernarda Alba, by Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca, with a show at Havana's Marti Theater.

“Bernarda, No” is the title of the latest production of the ensemble, directed by choreographer and dancer Ana Rosa Meneses, who proposes this novel reinterpretation of the conflicts and main themes of Garcia Lorca’s well-known play.

According to the specialized critics, Meneses’ work takes a contemporary look at the conceptual, stylistic and aesthetic line that characterizes the company’s exploration and work with flamenco as an indissoluble part of our cultural heritage.

Experts situate the work within the experimentation with contemporary dance and assure that it expresses, from the title, a challenging, shocking, heartbreaking and poetic tone to interact with the spectator.

The performances are scheduled for Friday and will continue during the weekend at the usual time (Friday and Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 5:00 p.m., local time).

According to information released by the National Council for the Performing Arts, a program of premieres will take place over the next few days, allowing the public to attend the stages this 2022, under strict anti-Covid-19 sanitary measures.
