Cuba's ambassador to India, Alejandro Simancas, participated in the José Martí School in this capital on the celebration of the annual day, an event that gathers teachers, students, principals and parents every year.

Simancas was invited by Karuna Sree Kunumuri, principal of the school, and shared the honors with deputies and officials of the Delhi state sector such as Pramila Tokas, member of the Legislative Assembly, and Manish Jain, deputy director of Education of the Secretariat of the territory, diplomatic sources said today.

The diplomat paid homage to Cuba’s National Hero, José Martí, in front of a bust located in the facility, and accompanied the presentation of awards to teachers and students who were recognized for their work and academic performances.

During an exchange with those present, Simancas talked about the education sector in Cuba, which he explained as one of the priorities of the Cuban government.

He also referred to the traditional friendship between the peoples of India and Cuba.

He took the opportunity to recall that this year marks the 50th and 40th anniversary of the first and second visit to India of the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, designer of the educational work in the island.

During the celebration of the Annual School Day in India, activities are developed to showcase the talent of students, eliminate stage fear, increase their confidence, and teach them to work as a team.
