Cuba is working on 2030 agenda, says deputy PM in Iran

HAVANA, Cuba, May 16 (ACN) Despite the complex international context, Cuba is working on its own agenda for 2030, said Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas in Tehran today, who is leading his country's delegation to the intergovernmental meeting.

Addressing the Persian Minister of Health, Bahram Ainollahi, Cabrisas explained that the National Economic Development Plan until 2030 encompasses a national vision with strategic axes and sectors, with clear objectives to be met by stage, reports Prensa Latina news agency in a dispatch from Tehran.

While Iran is advancing towards the same goal with a long-term strategy based on the Economy of Resistance, he added, but both with the conviction of seeking complementarity to achieve the strategic objectives proposed by both parties.

The Iranian health minister is co-chairing the 18th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission together with other high-level officials representing the Persian government with which Cuba has maintained excellent diplomatic relations since 1979.

Cabrisas praised the potential of both parties to strengthen relations with concrete projects and businesses such as the development of medicine production, mining, oil and agri-food sectors.

There are also great possibilities for common development in the areas of health, nanotechnology and groundwater management, he said.

Cuba is working to diversify export markets for goods and services, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology products, backed by a high-tech and competitive industry, the Cuban representative pointed out.

Cuban authorities attach great importance to the participation of foreign capital in the development program until 2030, with an annual update in the Portfolio of Opportunities for foreign investment.

In that sense, during the last few months Cuban and Iranian companies exchanged interests in nanosciences and the food, oil and petrochemical industries, creating conditions for the investment of Persian institutions in Cuba.

Strengthening this type of medium and long-term proposals that strengthen economic, commercial, financial and cooperation relations is one of the purposes of this intergovernmental meeting.

Both parties will review the state of collaboration, in addition to reviewing and updating agreements and memorandums of understanding, with special attention to the new ones that may be signed at the end of the meeting.

Iran and Cuba are generating important prospects for bilateral exchange in sectors they consider to be priorities, after overcoming decades of innumerable dangers following the triumph of both revolutions, aimed at promoting a better future for their peoples.

Tehran and Havana are working to raise their collaboration, economic, commercial and financial exchanges to the same level as their diplomatic relations based on solidarity and mutual respect between peoples and governments.
