The Deputy Prime Minister of Cuba, Ricardo Cabrisas, advocated for further strengthening ties with China, a country with which Cuba today maintains a special friendship.

Cabrisas also held a meeting with Cubans who work at the Cuban embassy in China.

The event began with a video of the recent interview given by President Miguel Díaz-Canel to Cuban television, in which he addressed aspects of the social and economic reality of Cuba, and urged “to continue strengthening ties between Cuba and China, and renew commitment to our Revolution,” says a publication on social networks from the Cuban Embassy in the Asian nation.

Deputy Prime Minister Cabrisas is on a working visit to China, during which he will co-chair the XXX Session of the Intergovernmental Commission.

According to a statement released by the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the Commission will strengthen ties between both nations, review and project the main topics of mutual interest, including those related to the scientific-technical area and bilateral cooperation.

The special representative of the Chinese government for Latin American Affairs, Qiu Xiaoqi said that China and Cuba share strategic visions on how international relations should be and “they have high mutual political trust, we share similar ideals and similar objectives and we firmly support each other on central issues to our respective fundamental interests.”
