The 10,931 general education institutions in Cuba begin today the 2022-2023 school year, which will end in July of next year.

According to recent statements made by Ena Elsa Velazquez Cobiella, minister of education, more than 1.7 million students will start classes, including those living in the province of Pinar del Rio(westernmost province), affected by Hurricane Ian.

This school term will have a shorter duration and will be the last one where curricular adaptations will be applied, so that as from the 2023-2024 school year, the regular school calendar will be resumed, she assured.

We have a favorable teaching coverage, with the incorporation of more than 8,000 new professionals at different teaching levels, as 6,695 are graduating from pedagogical schools and 1,800 from higher education, she highlighted.

The minister assured that the delivery of notebooks and pencils is being kept according to the standard adjusted, and that all the necessary material to guarantee the uniforms for this course is already in the national territory.
