The National Office of Statistics and Information of Cuba (ONEI) reported an increase in tourist arrivals that justifies authorities' efforts to boost tourism.

The report points out that up to October, 1,729,098 foreign visitors arrived in Cuba, accounting for 540.4 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

This figure is equivalent to 1,409,105 additional travelers. The report says that 1,198,402 international visitors were welcomed up to October, which represents 587.6 percent, or 994,455 more international travelers than in the same period in the previous year.

ONEI added that the main tourist-sending sources are Canada, the Cuban community abroad, the United States, Spain, Germany, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and Mexico, among others.

Canada has accumulated 359,034 visitors so this year, and together with the Cuban community abroad (266,264) they hold the top two undisputed positions on the list.
