Havana, May 23 (Prensa Latina) Cuba on Monday reported 37 new Covid-19 cases, and for the seventh consecutive week, the country has shown a decrease in the daily number of contagions and deaths from the disease.

The head of Epidemiology at the Public Health Ministry, Dr. Francisco Duran, announced these data during his usual television conference, which he said will be the last broadcast related to Covid-19.

He added that in the last seven days 390 patients were reported positive for SARS-CoV-2, the cause of the disease, with an average of 56 cases per day, the lowest figure in 2022.

Regarding pediatric cases, he noted that they have also decreased and only 20 patients were reported daily on average in the last week, the lowest number for that period.

In addition, no children have died so far this year, he said.

Dr. Duran regretted the deaths by Covid-19 that occurred in May, which are two, so Cuba maintains a death toll of 8,529 since 2020, accounting for a lethality of 0.77 percent, well below the 1.19 in the world and the 1.75 in the American continent.
