Cuba has so far received 22 donations from different governments, institutions and solidarity groups in order to put out a large-scale fire broke out at the industrial city of Matanzas.

Most of donations are means of protection and food, which have been distributed to fire-affected people, the Girón local newspaper reported, while reviewing a meeting led by the Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

The Foreign Trade Ministry continues to respond to solidarity assistance offers and has created new bank accounts to ease the financial donations.

Over the weekend, a great number of flights from Venezuela and Mexico -with medical equipment, supplies and specialized brigades experienced in dealing with disasters- arrived in Cuba.

Cuba´s Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca confirmed on Twitter that several nations including Russia, Argentina, Chile, Nicaragua, the European Union and the United Nations have sent solidarity assistance.

At the meeting, President Díaz-Canel thanked the enormous solidarity supports and stressed that many messages, aid provisions, both from governments and from peoples, institutions, individuals and solidarity organizations, have come from around the globe.
