A plan of action will begin this month to preserve the historical memory of the hundreds of measures adopted since the beginning of the year by the Temporary Working Group for the Prevention and Control of the New Coronavirus in Cuba.

The writings related to the compliance with the measures to fight the COVID-19 epidemic should be declared a Documentary Heritage of the Cuban Nation, Marta Marina Ferriol Marchena, General Director of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA).

Each of these roles is a reflection of the creative initiative, the implementation in record time of timely responses and the ability to adapt to a new and difficult scenario, she explained, referring to the original text.

Cuba has a vast experience in dealing with situations of natural disasters and epidemiological scenarios, such as Dengue, Zika, Chikungunya and Ebola, and in the latter cases with the help of solidarity to the countries where there are Cuban medical brigades.

However, COVID-19 has surpassed all previous experience by rapidly becoming a pandemic that has affected almost all the countries of the world, and in view of such a situation, a Government Plan was adopted to counteract the virus amid a new political-administrative context and a tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States.

CITMA, as the state governing body of the National Archives System, included in the Program for the Preservation of Historical Memory, is implementing the Plan of Actions that will guarantee that all the information generated in this stage will be available in the future.

Once the text was circulated to the Central State Administration Agencies, national entities and CITMA delegates, the governors were informed of the need to activate the Historical Memory Commissions in each territory to implement it.
