Havana, August 7 (RHC) The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment (Mincex) announced on Sunday the opening of two accounts to receive emergency donations in response to the catastrophe caused by a major fire at the Matanzas Supertanker Base, caused by an electrical discharge last Friday.

The organization set up the EMERGENCY DONATIONS account at the Banco Financiero Internacional (BFI), with the number 0300 0000 0533 6242. Swift code: BFICCUHHXXX.

There is also an account DONATIONS-CUBA, in the International Bank of Commerce (Bicsa), with the number 0407 6100 8187 0041. Swift code: BIDCCUHHXXX.

Institutions and citizens of Cuba and other nations have expressed their intention to make donations in response to the incident that caused more than a hundred injured, one firefighter died, and 16 others are missing.

After more than 36 hours of intense fighting against the flames, this Sunday afternoon, the fire ceased in the first tank that caught fire in the industrial zone of that city in the western part of the country.

Firefighters and experts from Cuba, and since early this morning also from Mexico and Venezuela, have worked tirelessly to control the fire.
