Cuba will host a meeting of Latin American and Caribbean Parliament (Parlatino) commissions, said the president of the island's National Assembly of People's Power (parliament), Esteban Lazo.

According to the words disclosed in the social networks of the legislative body, on May 26 and 27, Havana will host the meetings of the Health and Education, Culture, Science, Technology and Communication Commissions.

In his message, Lazo wished success to the delegates and stressed this is an event that will analyze relevant topics of the region and the planet.

He ratified that Cuba will participate in both commissions and reaffirmed its solidarity in health and education with its Latin American and Caribbean brothers and sisters.

During the sessions of the 36th Ordinary Assembly of the Latin American and Caribbean Parliament in February of this year, Cuba received recognition and positive evaluations in the midst of the scourge of Covid-19.

On that occasion, Argentine Senator Silvia Giacoppo was elected as the new head of the regional legislative body for a term of office from 2022 to 2024.

Parlatino was created in 1965 in Lima, Peru; and has been operating in Panama City since 2006 for the elaboration of initiatives on social, economic, human and women’s rights, food security, education, health, environment, among others.
