Judoka Andy Granda and canoeist Yurisleidis Cirilo were selected today as Cuba's best athletes in 2022 in individual disciplines, in the traditional poll of the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation ( INDER by its Spanish acronym).

Niurkis Moras, handball player, and volleyball player Jesus Herrera appear among the best in collective sports.

Jose Antonio Miranda, general director of the High Performance Department of INDER, also informed that the awards gala will be held on the 22nd and 23rd in this capital city.

Below is the list of all those selected in the different categories:

BEST ATHLETES AND TEAMS OF THE YEAR

5th place in the world championship.
-Most outstanding collective sport     
Volleyball              
 Winner of the Final Four, the Final Six, the Pan American Cup and the FIVB Challenger Cup, and 14th place in the Indoor World Championship. Places one, two and three in Norceca stops and 17th in the world championship, beach.
-Most outstanding individual sport         
Canoeing        
Gold and silver medals, and places four and five in the world championship. Six gold, two silver and one bronze medals in World Cups. One gold and three silver medals in Pan American Championships.

Two victories in professional circuits, both by knockouts. Gold in the National Boxing Tournament Playa Girón 2022 and in the final of the national series.

Seventh in the world championship, 12th in the world ranking.

Raidel Martínez Perez (Baseball/PRI)
Pitcher selected as the best Latin player of the year in the Japanese professional league, in which he was the leader in saves and MVP of the Chunichi Dragons (39).

Jorge Luis Vega Zamora (Athletics/CAV) 
Outstanding work in competitions at all levels. Elected the best fast strength referee in his province, with excellent results in national and international events, and teaching seminars, courses and other improvement actions. Participated in the measurement and certification of the circuit of the international marathons of Varadero and Marabana. Winner of the provincial meeting of circles of interest in sports refereeing, and obtained the category of relevant in the combined and municipal forums.

Yunior Sosa Naranjo (Wrestling/CAV) 
Selected as the most outstanding referee in several competitions during the year, a period in which he contributed his knowledge in municipal and provincial competitions of different categories. He obtained good evaluations in international competitions, including qualifiers, Pan-American and the Cadet World Championship. He gave and received courses and clinics as part of his constant work in the field of improvement.-

Achieved marks in the modalities of most touches dominating with the head, from the standing position, and most touches dominating only with the thighs from the standing position, with 1½ kg of weight on each ankle.
