Havana, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) With the 8,434 new Covid-19 cases reported Sunday in Cuba, this Caribbean nation reached the total number of 801,367 confirmed cases since March 11, 2020.

The national director of Epidemiology, Dr. Francisco Duran, in his usual television conference, regretted the death in the last 24 hours of 63 people due to complications associated with this disease. Thus, the country death toll amounts to 6,796 since last year.

He warned that, despite the reiterated warnings on the care of minors, the death toll today in this pediatric group (from 0 to 18 years old) reached 1,771 total. Of these, 110 are under one year of age and 62 are not even six months old.

Duran informed that the balance between new cases and recoveries today was negative, as 7,834 people left the hospitals, 600 less than those positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19.

In Cuba, the total number of recovered patients amounts to 754,898 since 2020, which represents nearly 94 percent of all sick people.

To face the complex epidemiological situation, Cuba continues with the immunization process with its own vaccines Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala, of which 17 million 766 271 doses have been administered.
