The Cuban Ministry of Public Health on Saturday reported 56 new confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 55 Cubans and one foreigner (Bolivia), and the total reached 620, Dr. Francisco Duran, director of Epidemiology, stated at his regular press conference.

According to Duran, of the 55 new positive Cubans, 46 were contacts of previously confirmed cases, seven contacts of travelers from abroad and the source of infection of two is being investigated.

Duran explained that there were 31 confirmed asymptomatic cases (55.3%) and in this regard, he reiterated the need to comply with the measures taken, specifically social distancing.

He also urged to declare all possible contacts when there is suspicion of the disease.

Some 2,415 patients have been hospitalized for clinical-epidemiological surveillance until yesterday, and 7,128 other individuals are being monitored at home.

In addition, 1,139 cases were studied on Friday so as to determine if they were positive for Covid-19, and 13,162 samples were accumulated for this purpose.

Duran, on the other hand, stated that among the patients who have tested positive, 513 have a clinically stable progress, 77 have been discharged from hospital, two were evacuated to their countries of origin, five are in critical condition and seven are seriously ill.

He regretted the death on Friday of a 91-year-old patient, and now Cuba's death toll is 16.
