Havana, Nov 16 (RHC) Representatives of Cuba and Algeria expressed Wednesday in Algiers, the willingness to strengthen joint actions to share experiences in issues and research related to health.

As part of his visit to that country, Cuban Minister of Public Health José Ángel Portal Miranda spoke with Derrar Fawzi, director general of the Pasteur Institute in the capital of the North African nation.

They talked about the possibility of initiating exchanges between that center and others that carry out similar work, such as the Pedro Kourí Tropical Medicine Institute, according to the Ministry of Public Health's website.

Both officials agreed to share experiences on issues related to surveillance for arbovirosis and studies of antimicrobial resistance in healthcare-associated infections and tuberculosis.

During the meeting, they expressed their interest in establishing links in aspects such as genomic surveillance of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, and dengue, as well as the exchange on issues related to the promotion of the production of biologicals.

The day before, the Cuban minister met with his counterpart, Abdelhak Saihi, with the purpose of working together to strengthen collaboration between the two countries.

For his part, Saihi highlighted the historical ties and solidarity that unite the two nations, while expressing interest in advancing technology transfer with the Cuban biopharmaceutical industry. (Source: ACN)
