Lautaro Carmona, general secretary of the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh) affirmed during the act for the 111th anniversary of the organization that "We mobilize against the criminal blockade suffered by the Cuban people."

The political leader expressed at the ceremony that the Communist Party of Chile is part of the anti-imperialist solidarity movement, and demanded full support for Cuba and its revolutionary process.

Carmona defended the right of self-determination and sovereignty of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean before historical leaders of the PCCh, members of the Cuban diplomatic corps accredited in Chile, representatives of social organizations and the Government.

The communist leader made an analysis of the international situation at this time when, as he said, the United States’ pretensions to maintain world hegemony collides with the calls to establish a new multipolar world order. He added that on one hand, new alliances are emerging outside of Washington, and on the other, China’s role is being strengthened at a global level, he said.

Lautaro Carmona also spoke of the activities of his party during the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the coup d’état against the Popular Unity government of President Salvador Allende.

“A good part of the life of the Communist Party of Chile is closely linked to the popular project led by Salvador Allende. There were decades and decades of construction, of struggles, of dreams, of collective and mass efforts,” he said.
