China, Cuba hail deep friendship as two FMs meet in Beijing

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Monday met with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez in Beijing, welcoming him to the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) Forum, which will be held in Beijing on Tuesday.
Emphasizing the deep friendship between China and Cuba despite geographical distance, Wang said over the past 65 years since establishing diplomatic relations, China and Cuba have remained trusted partners and strong supporters of one another, serving as a model for socialist countries and the Global South.
He reaffirmed China's commitment to strengthening bilateral friendship, supporting Cuba's sovereignty and opposition to sanctions, and building a China-Cuba community with a shared future.

The top Chinese diplomat also expressed confidence in the success of the ministerial meeting with Cuba's support.
Rodriguez praised the strategic nature of the Cuba-China relationship and thanked China for its steadfast support against sanctions and assistance during Cuba's economic challenges.
He emphasized Cuba's enduring commitment to the one-China principle and pledged to jointly implement the outcomes of the recent presidential meeting.
