Beijing, Oct 27 (Prensa Latina) China on Tuesday condemned the United States' decision to sell more weapons to Taiwan and assured that it will take countermeasures in light of a move that it described as interference in the country's internal affairs.

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Wang Wenbin noted that Washington is violating the One China principle and the commitments made when it established diplomatic relations with Beijing again by approving arms sales worth more than 2.3 billion dollars to Taiwan.

The spokesman charged that the White House insists in sending wrong signals to Taiwanese separatist groups, but it is also threatening peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits.

Wang demanded that the Donald Trump administration take a step back in its decision, otherwise it will face 'legitimate and necessary' countermeasures from China to defend its sovereignty and security interests.

On Monday, the United States gave a green light to a new transaction, days after approving another sale of state-of-the-art weapons worth 1.8 billion dollars to Taipei.
