Havana, Aug 22 (Prensa Latina) Another solidarity shipment of about 1,000 pounds of powdered milk arrived today in Cuba bound for Matanzas, thanks to the efforts of the U.S. organizations Puentes de Amor and CodePink (Bridges of Love and CodePink).

The funds (about 50 000 dollars) to purchase and send the shipment were donated mostly by US citizens, Cuban-Americans, Cuban emigrants and various people from the United States and the world, Carlos Lazo, coordinator of Puentes de Amor, told Prensa Latina.

This and other shipments are just a grain in a vast sea of needs, but it shows the willingness of U.S. citizens and diverse people from all over the world to help the Cuban people in the midst of the economic war unleashed by the White House against the Cuban people, he stressed.

The activist emphasized that the tightening of the blockade becomes more cruel and inhumane as it occurs in the midst of this Covid-19 pandemic affecting the world and as a result of the tragic accident that occurred in the northwestern city of the island, located approximately 140 kilometers east of Havana.

“But solidarity and love will prevail over hate and senselessness and decent people in the United States and the world will turn these drops of solidarity into an unstoppable tide of love for the Cuban people,” said Professor Lazo, a resident of the U.S. city of Seattle.

Lyn Leon, a member of Bridges of Love and the Caravan Against the Blockade of Miami, accompanied the shipment, which is part of an initiative sponsored by the two organizations to bring powdered milk to all pediatric hospitals in Cuba.

Last Saturday, the project led by Lazo delivered about 500 kilograms of the product and other supplies to Cuban hospitals and health institutions in Matanzas.

Over the weekend, it also donated 910 kilograms of powdered milk and hundreds of intravenous devices to the Faustino Pérez hospital in the same city
