Beijing, Jun 16 (Prensa Latina) The BRICS agreed to join forces to promote plans that strengthen international cooperation in cybersecurity and the fight against terrorism.

According to an official statement, these consensuses emerged from a meeting between the National Security representatives of the bloc, made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

The officials decided to defend the role of the United Nations Organization as the main coordinator in the fight against terrorism and called for the establishment of a more inclusive and democratic governance system for the use of the Internet in the world.

They also analyzed various issues as part of the preparations for the 14th summit of heads of state and government to be held this year.

During the meeting, the director of Foreign Affairs of the Communist Party of China, Yang Jiechi, urged the BRICS to inject more stability and positive energy in the midst of global turbulence, face challenges together and practice true multilateralism.

He advocated for the members to respond in a coordinated manner to traditional and non-traditional security risks, foster solidarity and work to achieve lasting peace on the planet.

The BRICS is an economic-commercial association between the five most important emerging economies in the world and which share the common characteristics of having a large population, vast territory and significant amount of natural resources. China occupies the temporary presidency of the group and holds several ministerial meetings on the way to the appointment of the top leaders.
