Mayor Edmilson Brito and the Chargé d'Affaires of the Cuban Embassy, Adolfo Curbelo, signed an agreement between the Brazilian city of Belém and Havana to strengthen cooperation and friendship.

The document specifies that both regions agree to reciprocally develop exchanges in different sectors, such as support for collaboration between cultural, scientific, health and educational institutions.

Such support is aimed at strengthening ties between the citizens of the two localities.

Similarly, Belém, capital of the northern state of Pará, and the Cuban capital “will promote and strengthen cooperation and exchange in the fields of economy, tourism, agriculture, urban infrastructure, city management and trade to encourage mutual investments and intensify commercial communication”.

The text adds that the parties will provide support for the exchange of experiences such as emergency preparedness, disaster management and climate change.

Finally, the content details that all actions will be carried out on the basis of mutually agreed short- and long-term programs.
